 About the Society

Association of Radiation Oncologists' of India (AROI) is the largest academic organization of Oncologists in India. The West Bengal Chapter of the Association of Radiation Oncologists' of India (AROIWB) came to being along with the parent national body. With about 350 plus members, it is one of the largest state Chapters of the Association. The state chapter has been successfully organizing Annual State Conferences, Continuing Medical Education Programs (both physical and virtual) for both the Consultants and the Post Graduates as well as many successful courses like ones on Biomedical Statistics, Clinical Oncology, Brachytherapy etc for the past 20 years.

The WB chapter of the AROI, aims to bring together the Oncologists of West Bengal and provide them an academic platform for their development, by means of Conferences, workshop, CMEs, Clinical meetings accredited by West Bengal Medical Council and other activities.

The AROI, WB chapter seeks to develop all round collaboration with other medical faculties to promote multi-disciplinary collaboration and thereby facilitating greater understanding of the problems and improvement of patient care for cancer patients.

The Association seeks to ignite the minds of the Young Radiation Oncologists and foster their growth through educational and supportive activities as torchbearers of cancer care in the future.

The Association also seeks to engage with patients, caregivers and all stakeholders for health education, health promotion, tobacco cessation and dissemination of knowledge to provide appropriate direction to them.

  About the Journal

The Bengal Journal of Cancer is a publication from the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (West Bengal Chapter). It is a peer-reviewed, open access, international print plus online journal. Initially it shall be published biannually but we expect the frequency to be increased to Quarterly soon. M/s Wolters Kluwer Medknow have been appointed as publishers for this Journal

Open Access Publication and Creative Commons Licensing

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

The scope of the Journal shall be to publish good quality original research in the field of Oncology (including but not limited to Radiation, Medical, Clinical and Surgical Oncology, Heamato-Oncology, Onco-pathology, Molecular genetics and Translational Oncology). We shall invite manuscripts from researchers across the globe. All articles shall be stringently peer reviewed by eminent Reviewers and Members of the Editorial Board both from India and across the globe.

The journal shall allow free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive the final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository. The journal shall not charge for submission, processing or publication of manuscripts and even for colour reproduction of photographs.
